Victoria Nautical Song
Circle has been offering
folks the chance to participate in and enjoy home made singing since
the end of November 1998.
In a semi-public location, the upstairs room offered by the Bent
Mast Restaurant, it offers both the opportunity to scope it out
without having to find someone's home and the separation from the
downstairs area to offer a comfort zone and show it's not a
performance. Songs of the sea, sailors, light keepers, river men,
their girl friends, boy friends, grog and parodies of all this fit.
We have some growing lyrics books and no one need lead a song until
and unless they are comfortable. Everyone, however, always gets a turn.
We meet Saturday evenings, alternating with the Victoria Song
Circle. See our web site for the dates for the year. The weeks of
the month tumble in months with 5 Saturdays. Once one has a date one
can work it out for the rest of the year.
Instruments are not common, however they are welcome. Please read
the notes for consideration of how singers and instruments may
function well together.
