We are a non-profit Victoria based society that promotes fiddle
music through workshops, events and by bringing people of all ages
together to enjoy fiddle music.
Our
2008/2009 fee schedule is as follows:
Individual Membership $20; Family $50; Drop-in rate: $5.
Members receive discounts
on workshops and VFS-Sponsored concerts, free jam admission, and are
kept informed about special events, concerts, workshops and other fiddle
activities.
Victoria
Fiddle Society also supports the
Victoria Performing Arts
Festival by offering The Frankie Rodgers Trophy and
Award ($100) for best original composition and our newest
2009, the Oliver Schroer Spirit Award ($100). In
his lifetime, the playing and teaching of fiddler, Oliver Schroer,
encapsulated the spirit, magic and beauty of traditional and
contemporary fiddle tunes. With this award, the VFS would like to
acknowledge a performer who embodies the spirit of fiddle music regardless
of their age, style or ability.
Our President, Daniel Lapp personally offers the Leonard
Sexsmith Trophy and Award.
The easiest way to become a member is to come to the next
fiddle jam and sign up at the WELCOME table. However, if that
is not possible, print the
Membership
Application (Word
Document) or (Adobe
Acrobat File) and mail to the address at the top of the form,
together with your cheque for the appropriate amount.

Music will give a 10% discount when VFS members show
their membership card on accessories and sheet music. Larsen
Music will also stock sheet music as requested by VFS

Sidney Musicworks offers a 10%
discount on all music books, accessories (strings, tuners,
rosin, bow, etc.) and instrument rentals when VFS members

Clarence Boudreau of Fiddles Fixed gives a 10% discount
on parts and labour (including bow rehairing) to VFS members
who take advantage of his reasonable rates and fast
turnaround time. The 10% discount is also offered on the
restored violins he has for sale. His specialty is
restoring, repairing and setting-up instruments in the
violin family. Clarence's expertise includes all stringed
